Your soul!

The devil came early to my door one day. He smiled, and told me today was my lucky day. For me he had a gift. The gift I had been after for years.
“Nothing is free what is the price for this gift?”

The room grew a bit darker, he came closer I inched further away. The scariest, but most beautiful thing about him were his eyes. They were making me see things. Hollowed and glowing, I could not believe what I was experiencing in that moment.

“Your soul…. Here in my hands I have a new life. The life you have always deserved, a simple yes if you dare to receive all life has to offer.”

What do I do?… I hear my child’s stomach rumbling and mines following after. Over due bills on the counter, in a house lacking every need to function properly. My wife has worn the same outfits time and time again.

“My soul!” That shook my bones.

Should it really be a concerned if I know where my souls going?

Giving up the offer I`d regret it. Why should Lola have another scarce christmas?

Sucking all the air I could in to my lungs, I exhaled a fearful.

“Yes”

Can I be released?

“Tap Tap” On my door.

The clock held. 12:30 A.M.

“Tap Tap.”

Unwanted company. What a gamble. I remained seated. No missed calls, or texts. Whoever was at my door, was no friend.

“Tap Tap”

I yawned, clutched my gun grip. The tapping was eerie.

“Tap Tap”

I lit up a smoke. Hoping they would stop. They didn’t, I started sliding my two feet slowly, across my floorboards. I peeked out of the far right window.

“Tap Tap”

I could only see a shadow. I heard a whisper. “Just open the damn door.”

I knew that voice, purposely left that voice on the East Coast. I whispered. “Aw, he’ll naw, this delusional bitch!”

” Tap Tap”

I remained silent.

“I KNOW YOU’RE IN THERE! COME TO THE FUCKING DOOR!”….

Whatever she came here for I had no time to go in circles about.

The tapping was on my last nerve. Her feet moved across the patio floor. She really knew I was standing there. She mirrored me at the same window.

“Say goodbye to your only child!”

My porch lit up, I hit the floor. Two shots were fired. A thud was the next sound. The instinct in me rose. I fired back through the window. The first shot took her out. I was relieved, but seeing the baby. that was just the reality of what I had done, by ever being with that lunatic.

Can I be released now, officer?
